We sequenced the non-coding intergenic region between COI and COII mitochondrial genes from 12 populations collected through Japan. About 50 different haplotypes have been reported for the non-coding region of A. melliefra. This study detected A. mellifera ligstica type in Japan, which we consisted haplotype C1. These results suggested that PCR product only was distinguished from African haplotype.
